World Book Day Celebrations at Harris Academy Battersea

Students and staff at Harris Academy Battersea came together to celebrate World Book Day with a day full of creativity, curiosity and a shared love of reading.

Teachers across the academy joined in the spirit of the day by dressing up as characters from well-known books, bringing stories to life around the school. Students were then challenged to take part in a fun scavenger hunt, where they had to spot the dressed-up staff members and match their costume to a famous quote from the book their character appeared in. The activity encouraged students to explore different stories and think carefully about the characters behind some of literature’s most memorable lines.

The library was at the heart of the celebrations, hosting a range of activities for students throughout the day. One of the highlights was a special mystery book giveaway. Students were nominated by their teachers to receive a surprise book, thoughtfully wrapped by the academy’s Student Librarians. Each mystery book was selected to spark curiosity and inspire students to discover a new story.

The day was a wonderful celebration of reading across the academy, with students engaging enthusiastically in the activities and discovering new books along the way. Events like these continue to encourage a lifelong love of reading within the Harris Academy Battersea community.
