Rewards & Recognition

At Harris Academy Battersea, we take every opportunity to celebrate the success of our students and to build a culture of effort, ambition, and kindness.

Our rewards culture at Harris Battersea is a powerful way to encourage students to do their best and to show them that staff and parents appreciate and value their hard work. We want all students to feel valued and supported, and to celebrate their achievements in front of their peers.

Value Points and Lesson Excellence Awards

In every lesson, all students have the opportunity to demonstrate hard work, politeness and engagement in lessons by earning value points from their classroom teachers. Hundreds of value points are awarded each day. As well as this the students who have shown the most work and engagement in their lesson are awarded by the class teacher a Lesson Excellence Certificate, given to them at the end of each lesson. An individual communication is sent home and students are celebrated in their weekly year group assemblies.

Value points and Lesson Excellence Awards contribute to students being able to earn their place to on termly rewards trip.

Rewards Assembly

At the end of each half-term, each year group has an opportunity celebrate their success in front f their peers. Two students are nominated per class and are publicly rewarded with celebration subject badges amid applause from all their peers.

Being able to stand in front of their friends and classmates to receive this congratulations not only raises self-esteem and pride, but also signals to other students what they need to do to be receive a badge next half-term. The more success is celebrated and normalised, the more students will think it is attainable and easier to strive for.

Rewards Trip

Each term, students earn a spot on a special rewards assembly. Previous rewards trips have been trips to the theatre, ice skating, Go Ape, and much more. We are always looking for new and exciting places to take our students.
