Robotics Club Launches at Harris Academy Battersea

Robotics Club Launches at Harris Academy Battersea

This week, students at Harris Academy Battersea kicked off an exciting new Robotics Club, created in partnership with Amazon Robotics.

In the very first session, students met members of the Amazon team, learned about the challenge ahead, and jumped straight into building and testing their first robots. Working in 3 teams, they experimented with motors, sensors and coding to bring their creations to life.

Students will be using LEGO Education Spike Prime kits, which allow them to design, build and code their own robots using:

  • Programmable hubs

  • Motors and sensors

  • Over 500 LEGO Technic pieces

  • Simple drag-and-drop coding

Over the next few months, teams will meet weekly to improve their designs, solve engineering challenges and prepare for a final robotics competition in July.

Along the way, they’ll get support from Amazon Robotics volunteers and even have the chance to win prizes and a visit to an Amazon site.

After an energetic first session, one thing is clear: the robots are rolling and the ideas are already flowing!
