Empowering Girls Through Football

Empowering Girls Through Football

Today we were delighted to host our very first all-girls morning football session, and it was fantastic to see such a strong turnout. Sixteen students from Years 7–10 came along to take part, bringing energy, enthusiasm, and a brilliant team spirit to the pitch. It was a wonderful start and a clear sign of the growing interest in girls’ sport across the school.

The session comes at a particularly meaningful time of year. Earlier this month we celebrated International Women's Day, a moment to recognise the achievements of women and girls around the world and to encourage the next generation to pursue their ambitions with confidence. This Sunday also marks Mother's Day, a time when many of us reflect on the inspiring women and role models in our lives who encourage us to be brave, determined, and resilient.

Sport can play a powerful role in building those qualities. By creating more opportunities like our girls’ football sessions, we hope to empower students to try something new, develop their confidence, and discover the joy of being active as part of a team.

Female role models in sport continue to show young people what is possible, and we hope that initiatives like this will inspire even more girls within our school community to get involved in football and other physical activities.

This first session was a fantastic beginning, and we look forward to seeing the programme grow — welcoming even more students onto the pitch in the weeks ahead.
