Year 9 Robotics Club Visits Amazon Fulfilment Centre

Year 9 Robotics Club Visits Amazon Fulfilment Centre

Today, 13 members of our Year 9 Robotics Club enjoyed an exciting and educational visit to the Amazon Fulfilment Centre in Dartford, where they discovered how robotics and automation work together to ensure millions of parcels are delivered efficiently every day.

The visit began in the receiving area, where students observed how products arrive at the warehouse before being categorised, coded and prepared for storage. They then followed the journey of an item through the fulfilment process, visiting the robotic floor to see how advanced robotic systems help pick products, which are then packed, labelled and prepared for dispatch.

Throughout the tour, students gained a fascinating insight into the sophisticated technology behind Amazon's operations. They learned how robots are programmed to work alongside people, improving efficiency and accuracy while handling thousands of products. The visit also highlighted the wide range of careers available in engineering, robotics, computer science and logistics.

The experience inspired our students and brought to life many of the concepts they have been exploring in Robotics Club. Seeing automation in action demonstrated the real-world applications of coding, engineering and problem-solving, helping students appreciate the impact that robotics has on modern industry.

One Year 9 student commented:
"That was an amazing trip. It was really interesting to see how they use automation and all the different types of robots they have in the warehouse!"

A huge thank you to the Amazon team for hosting such an informative and engaging visit. It was a fantastic opportunity for our students to experience cutting-edge technology in action and to explore the exciting possibilities that a future career in robotics and automation could offer.
