Deeper Learning Day 3: Inspiring Learning Beyond the Classroom
Students across the academy recently took part in another highly successful Deeper Learning Day, stepping away from their usual timetable to engage in a wide range of enriching experiences designed to develop the knowledge, skills and confidence needed for life beyond the classroom.
Throughout the day, students participated in workshops, educational visits and practical experiences exploring topics including financial literacy, careers, communication, personal wellbeing, online safety, healthy relationships and teamwork. Working alongside a range of expert organisations, students were encouraged to think critically, challenge themselves and apply their learning to real-world situations.
The day was enriched through partnerships with a number of outstanding organisations. Medical Mavericks inspired students to explore careers in healthcare through hands-on activities using real medical equipment, while Bold Voices delivered thought-provoking workshops on healthy relationships, respect and positive communication. Voice Box Theatre used interactive theatre to encourage discussion around identity, empathy and respectful behaviour, and Talk the Talk helped students develop their public speaking, confidence and communication skills. Students also explored future opportunities through careers-focused sessions and took part in practical experiences that developed resilience, teamwork and problem-solving, including the Go Ape Battersea Treetop Adventure.
Students demonstrated excellent engagement throughout the day, embracing new challenges, working collaboratively and representing the academy with maturity and enthusiasm. Whether taking part in practical workshops, discussing important social issues or exploring future career pathways, students showed a genuine willingness to learn and develop.
Deeper Learning Days are an important part of our Personal Development curriculum, complementing academic learning by equipping students with the wider knowledge, skills and experiences needed to become confident, responsible and successful young adults. By working with expert external partners and providing meaningful experiences beyond the classroom, we continue to broaden horizons, raise aspirations and prepare every student for the opportunities and challenges of the future.
A huge thank you goes to our dedicated staff and external partners—including Medical Mavericks, Bold Voices, Voice Box Theatre, Talk the Talk and Go Ape Battersea—whose expertise and enthusiasm made the day such a success. Most importantly, congratulations to all of our students, who embodied our academy values of Knowledge, Integrity and Resilience throughout the day.
