HABS Students Take on the Chelsea x FICO Financial Literacy Challenge!
Our Year 9 students from the Money Matters Enrichment Club, alongside additional Year 8 students, enjoyed an exciting opportunity to attend the Chelsea x FICO Financial Literacy event, joining students from other schools for a day combining football, business and financial education.
The students took part in a “Manage Chelsea Football Club” challenge, working with a virtual budget of £100 million. They had to make important financial decisions, including buying players, choosing sponsors, selecting investments and managing financial risks and opportunities. Their aim was to grow their budget while avoiding losses through careful planning and strategic decision-making.
Each team presented its final balance sheet to a FICO panel, explaining and justifying the financial decisions they had made. It was a fantastic opportunity for students to develop their understanding of budgeting, investing, financial literacy and risk management.
The day also included an exclusive tour of Stamford Bridge, including a visit to the home changing room. Students were thrilled to meet Chelsea legend Gary Cahill, who shared stories from his career and presented them with a signed Chelsea shirt!
A special congratulations goes to Team “The Goats” – Kaleece, Amy, Azzurra, Noalia and Teya – who won the presentation challenge for HABS! This is an especially fantastic achievement as they were the only all-girls team attending from the three schools.
Well done to all our students for their enthusiasm, teamwork and impressive financial thinking. It was a memorable day and a brilliant opportunity to put their learning into practice!
