Developing Numeracy - Hegarty Maths
This page explains how we will use MemRi, a function on Hegarty Maths to improve pupils numeracy during the period of remote learning.
All pupils already have a log in to Hegarty maths to use for Maths homework. For any support with logging in the pupil should contact their maths teacher on their MS Teams maths group.
What is MemRi?
Personalised quizzes to help pupils remember what they’ve learned. Each day of the week, pupils in will spend 30 mins on this Hegarty task consisting of 10 questions per task.
How does it work?
Auto generated questions based on individual students’ questions answered on Hegarty Maths. It mixes topics up and contains 10 questions per MemRi task.
Automatically spaces questions out according to the Ebbinghause Forgetting curve so that they are able to remember content for long periods of time and therfore thrive.
Pupils simply click on My tasks and then MemRi as shown below.
Each Monday, the previous week’s summary is emailed to the class teacher.
Why?
MemRi turbo charges learning. It helps pupils "hard-code" their maths skills so they’ll always remember them. MemRi enables pupils to practice different topics at the same time (interleaving), similar to exams so it helps the brain practice in the way pupils need to perform in the exam.
