Students turn 'Me' to 'We' at Charity Event
Students from Year 8 attended the inspirational ‘We Day’ event at Wembley Arena last week.
‘We Day’ is a global event run by the ‘We’ movement which exists to bring people together and equip them with the tools to better their environments and situations. Their mantra is “working together to shift the world from ‘me’ to ‘we’”.
The event aimed to raise awareness of charities and celebrate the contributions made by school students’ to charities. A host of celebrities and thought leaders attended the event including Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, philanthropist Holly Branson and ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ winner Tokio Myers.
The event consisted of performances and motivational speeches that described tough situations and how charities helped people in need. Humanities Teacher Miss Dickinson said, “It was a truly memorable day and very inspiring. The students came away with a new desire to help out people in the community of Battersea and were keen to take part in some type of social action to raise money for charities in our local community.”
We will keep you posted on the developments.
