Y12 Chemistry Lab Trip to Imperial College London

Twenty-four Y12 Chemists ventured to Imperial College London where they carried out required practical techniques, carried out calculations, identified common method mistakes, and accurately observed then recorded results. The students asked facilitators engaging Chemical and university-based questions and were described "as role model students" by the university staff! Despite the rainy journey to the labs, they carried out experimental techniques to identify alkenes, alcohols, aldehydes, ketones, carboxylic acids in unknown substances. Next, they used precision to produce a standard solution of sodium hydrogen sulphate and then carried out titrations and mathematical calculations to identify unknown measurements in alkaline solutions. Their efforts to strengthen their Chemical practical skills and knowledge should be praised!
