HMRC came in to host an informative workshop for our Sixth Form students. Victoria and Jonny, from HMRC, explained what the tax system does and what the social implications are. It is great to develop life skills, such as this, with our students!

On Tuesday evening staff and Sixth Form students came together for a heartwarming Christmas celebration filled with food, reflection, music, and festive cheer. The evening began with a delicious spread of food generously donated by staff and students.

"I Belong in Computer Science" Trip

On Thursday, May 23rd, ten of our students proudly represented our Academy at the "I Belong in Computer Science" event at Ada College. The event featured an engaging AI lesson and presentations by several inspirational women working in AI and machine learning, along with other experts in the field.

Key speakers included Gemini the consulting and service, an industrial expert from Microsoft, who shared insights into the tech industry's evolving landscape. Students also heard from a cybersecurity expert discussing the intersection of technology, a discussion on nuclear plant and carbon by expert. Ian Brooks, founder of Maven-Insights LTD, added his perspectives on AI in the business world.

This trip provided our students with an invaluable opportunity to delve into the fascinating world of computer science.

“I loved the trip because I learned about different aspects of computer science,” said Tamia, Year 9.

Chloe, from Year 8, shared, “It was fun learning about AI and asking three experienced professionals questions about working in technology.”

Even students who weren’t initially interested in technology found the experience enriching. Hiba, Year 9, remarked, “I’m not usually into technology, but today has been such an amazing experience. It was interesting to hear about each individual’s journey into the tech field.”

Overall, the trip was a wonderful experience for everyone involved. It provided our students with a deeper understanding of computer science and inspired many to consider future careers in this exciting field.
