Modern Foreign Languages (French & Spanish)
Learning a modern foreign language at HABS is a ‘liberation from insularity’ which opens your eyes to a whole new and changing world.
A high-quality languages education at HABS will foster pupils' curiosity and deepen their understanding of different countries’ people, culture, history, literature and arts.
This will help students consider their own identity and place in the world as well as to appreciate and empathise with different ways of seeing the world. Learning languages at HABS enables pupils to express their ideas and thoughts in another language and understand and respond to its speakers, both in speech and in writing.
Our curriculum aligns with the aims and subject content of the Key Stage 3 National Curriculum, GCSE and A-Level specifications. We aim to achieve academic success through empowering pupils to gain knowledge across a wide and stimulating range of matters central to the society and culture of the countries where the language is spoken. We aim to help our students become resilient and master skills that will open for them doors to an incessantly changing world and will be a vehicle for overcoming disadvantage and social injustice.
