Today marks the last day of Anti-Bullying Week, and we’re learning how to recognise when someone might be experiencing bullying. Look out for changes in mood, behaviour, confidence, or friendships and always speak to a trusted adult if you’re worried about someone.

Harris Experience Fitzwilliam College Cambridge Trip

Rianna, Year 10, reports on our trip to Cambridge University on 10th March 2022.

On our trip to Cambridge, we entered the Fitzwilliam building, one of 31 colleges that are a part of Cambridge University. During our visit, we took part in a small introduction talking about reasons to go to university, like a higher salary in the long term. They also talked about loans and finances, which helped ease the worrying about tuition and accommodations etc.

Next, we split up and participated in a debate about whether space exploration was important. During this debate, we talked about the many attributes of space research, for example mortality rates and climate change.

After our debate, we went to the dining hall which was in a very conservative setting with an amazing ceiling with massive windows.

Then, we had our tour around the college by one of the students there. We went to many places like the chapel, library, and the many gardens they had.

We headed back inside, where we took part in a career game where we matched up the A Levels, degrees and careers together trying to figure out the paths of real-life people that attended there. I really enjoyed this activity, as we basically learnt that no matter how far in you are in your studies, you have the chance to go back and do the subject/career you love.

This was the last activity that we did at Fitzwilliam College. We then went to visit the more historical side of Cambridge, visiting Trinity College and seeing the long river where people would pay to be towed across the scenery.
