The HABS boys were in action yesterday against a strong Harris Wimbledon side. The boys rose to the challenge and delivered an excellent performance, securing a hard-fought 45–40 victory in a close, nail-biting game.

HMRC came in to host an informative workshop for our Sixth Form students. Victoria and Jonny, from HMRC, explained what the tax system does and what the social implications are. It is great to develop life skills, such as this, with our students!

One of the most exciting BHM celebrations was the school-wide poetry competition, for which students were tasked with creating and presenting poems to mark this year’s theme of ‘Standing Firm in Power and Pride’. Congratulations to our winners and to everyone who got involved!

Today marks the last day of Anti-Bullying Week, and we’re learning how to recognise when someone might be experiencing bullying. Look out for changes in mood, behaviour, confidence, or friendships and always speak to a trusted adult if you’re worried about someone. Video

Year 7 transition Day: A Memorable Experience

We had the pleasure of welcoming our enthusiastic students for their Year 7 transition day. It was a fantastic opportunity for them to experience firsthand how a day runs at HABS. The event was designed to familiarize the students with their new environment, meet their future classmates and teachers, and get a taste of the exciting subjects they will be studying.

The feedback we received from the students was overwhelmingly positive, reflecting the success of the day and the excellent planning and execution by our dedicated staff. Here are a few comments from the students about what they liked most about the transition day:

What was your favourite part of transition day? Why?

  • "PE because we did dodgeball and I had a lot of fun and I made some new friends at Harris, so hopefully I'll make more in September. I love this school."
  • "Maths. It was not overstimulating (since I may have undiagnosed sensory issues) and was pretty fun. I enjoy maths in general, after all."
  • "Getting to know new people and learning new things."
  • "Making new friends and the experience. I just thought I was going to be lonely all my time at secondary, but I enjoy it now very much."
  • "I loved science because of how many colours were able to be shown in the fire and how you could increase the amount of flames."

These comments highlight the students' excitement and positive outlook as they prepare to embark on their journey at HABS. We are thrilled to have made such a strong impression and look forward to supporting these students as they transition into their new academic environment.
