Health & Social Care
Health and Social Care offers students the opportunity to learn about those around them – the growth and development of the different life stages of humans and the many factors that affect these.
It is particularly suited to those that wish to enter the caring professions such as education, social work, nursing, midwifery, and counselling. It aims to give students the necessary life skills to make a difference in people’s lives.
Health and Social Care helps students to understand the different aspects of issues we face in everyday life. Students also use their skills and knowledge to understand the different needs of individuals.
The overall aim at Key Stages 4 and 5 is for students to develop their appreciation and interest in the field of Health and Social Care. They will also develop confidence, independence and resilience as they develop written and verbal analysis and evaluation skills. These are skills which are transferrable across a variety of different environments, to provide opportunities for progression to further education, training and employment.
